MEDIA / TALENT AVALANCHE COURSE
Cost: $400 per person Lunch: $10 per person (optional) Deposit required.
This is a modified version of the Avalanche Skills Training (AST1) course geared towards the safety and extended knowledge of people working within the media of the ski and snowboard industry.
All students receive a CAA certified certificate upon passing, avaluator and book. This course is not subject to staying with Revelstoke and Rogers Pass.
For the most part, this course is for photographers, cinematographers and athletes who make their profession working in and around avalanche terrain. Scott has personally worked with media for 15 years, both as talent and a snowboard guide and there has been a huge explosion of new people in the industry that have little or no knowledge of safe backcountry travel. This course is also intended for veterans of the industry who would benefit from brushing up on their own skills.
More and more film crews are moving away from ski hills and into avalanche terrain via snowmobile, heli or splitboard. It is important to understand and practice safe travel procedures, self-rescue, snowpit data, avalanche information and positioning between rider and film crew while working in remote locations.
